Akibat kekacauan dari konfrontasi antara Jinka Yamato dan Yazen mengakibatkan dinamika kekuatan antara katawara yang berbakat secara ajaib dan manusia menjadi terbalik. Ketika berita tentang kejatuhan dangaishu—para biksu pemburu katawara yang dipimpin oleh Yazen—menyebar ke seluruh negeri, kelompok-kelompok nakal katawara mulai terbentuk, memperburuk hubungan yang sudah rapuh antara mereka dan manusia. Setelah kehilangan kepercayaan pada kemampuannya, Shinsuke Hyoudou sekarang menghabiskan waktunya dengan minum-minum bersama Senya. Senya secara tidak langsung menyebabkan kematian ayah Tsukiko, setelah serangan mendadak dari dewa lokal yang mengamuk.
